Fly Fishing Report, Russian River, CA

Healdsburg, CA

South of Dry Creek tributary, on the Russian: Pools that are 3 to 5 feet, I have had good luck with light colored Cahill dry flies for half-pounder rainbows (basically small Steelhead around 13 inches).

I have had to let them drift on float line into the pools, and then let them sink down. About 8 strikes in 2 weekends, with 3 healthy fish.....all wild.

Best times were between 5 and 7 pm.

Tackle: 8 1/2 rod, 7 wt line with 8 ft leader. No strike indicator or sinker, and no floatant used on fly.
